This is Head Researcher Arete, broadcasting from North Pole Secret Research Base I-37.
We don’t have much time.
There was an attack on the main generators today. Marshal and I were manning them; I’ve tried to buy him as much time as I can but if what they taught us in medical school is remotely accurate, neither of us is going to make it. Rocks Ice Cream – the one codenamed Jgoesgaming – is already dead. They left us a note on his body, and that’s most of what we know about them.
What little information we’ve been able to find indicates that some of the test subjects have revolted. That this attack on the generators was planned and coordinated. Marshal’s reconnaissance suggests that approximately four test subjects are among the defectors.
Without the main generators, the base should be able to keep running on the backup generators for roughly four days, perhaps up to ten if emergency repairs are able to be made. After that, it will be unable to maintain the life support systems that keep our experimental ice-cream-based life forms at the temperature they need to survive.

The experimental ice cream based life forms gathered in the main room. The bodies of the two human researchers who still manned the base and the very first test subject, Rocks ice cream, lay at the center. The remaining twelve test subjects formed a circle around them.
“What should we do about this?” asked a young Mango Ice-cream.
“I don’t know,” said the Cookies and Cream. “Maybe we could discuss who’s most likely to be a traitor, and kick them out of the research facility?”
“But they’ll freeze,” said Chocolate. “We might be ice cream, but that doesn’t mean we can survive out there.”
“And if we do nothing,” said Pistachio, “then all of us will freeze. Is that really any better?”
“Then it’s decided,” said Butter Pecan. "We’ll all discuss it, and in a day, forty-eight hours from now, we’ll decide who we wish to evict. Until then, we can gather evidence, and try to figure out who the traitor is, so that we can have the best chance of success.
And the ice cream flavors departed, but whether this plan would bring salvation or destruction, only time would tell.
