Weekly Monday Discussion #4

Maybe having spectators vote?

I know not all spectators follow the game so we could try an honour system in that you only vote if you are confident that you made an informed choice?

I feel like non-players are in a better position to make judgements.

So itā€™s driven salt of the good players about the bad players, I see :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Players within the game, on their faction, vote for who impacted their win positively the most.
Host can have double vote.

I mean
We could blacklist anyone who we consider ā€˜badā€™ instead, than attempt to increase their motivation to win and improve

Also everyone quantifies scum play differently.

Some people might vote for the best deepwolf, whereas others might vote for the best powerwolf.

That is a really bad idea, lul.

tch thatā€™s specie-ist

what if im not human

(Yes, thatā€™s the point.)

thatā€™s a big yikes from me dawg

determining the best wolf is extremely hard to do

the guy who gets bussed D1 but spews their entire team as town may have more impact on the game as a whole than the guy who deepwolfed to LyLo and watched town crossvote

ā€¦ This was in reply to Priestess saying awards are a result of salt from good players.

oh lol

Likewise with Town.

Town can be correct on their reads, but their ability to case their reads also comes into play when evaluating town performance

letting players vote will have an obvious bias btw

if thereā€™s gonna be a vote, maybe open it a couple days after game ends for some discussion or reflection or whatever

Basically what it was saying is
We have multiple ways of ā€˜solvingā€™ the unmotivated problem, but weā€™re opting for the one thatā€™s the most moral

If all the players who are perceived as ā€œgoodā€ vote in favor of this change, while all the players perceived as less skilled vote against it, thatā€™s definitely something weā€™d take into account! :slightly_smiling_face:

Also there is another thing we can consider. One thing players on MafiaUniverse do is create articles outlining their perspective on Mafia theory. I found a lot of those helpful, and Iā€™ve also talked to a couple of people on Discord on what type of theory they find most effective for their gameplay.

We could have a Forum Mafia University on this site as well.

i agree to an extent

having perfect reads and being unconvincing wonā€™t get you anywhere but having perfect reads is pretty gamer

obviously iā€™d say the guy who single handedly caught a wolf, convinced everybody that they were a wolf, and got said wolf yeeted, did better than the nerd who found two wolves but convinced nobody and those wolves were eventually PoEd or something

thereā€™s an immense amount of factors on who played best

which is my way of saying that i donā€™t think awards mean much, but theyā€™re neat and shiny. if people think they deserved a reward over someone else though, they shouldnā€™t feel bad that they didnā€™t get it ā€“ thereā€™s too much going into a game of mafia usually

like lets take vanilla nightless for example on how its hard to determine who did best for their alignment

i deepwolfed to LyLo, shaded my partner (Wazza) relentlessly all game, and partially setup a ML after i died

but iā€™d say Wazza played better than me that game because they were under pressure all game, lived all game, and powerwolfed like crazy once people miscleared him due to my interactions with him

and then (for the side of the villagers) thereā€™s eevee, who gamer voted me at LyLo when nobody else would have considered voting me there

but they didnā€™t do much more that game (although they sandbagged to help the newer players learn)

i donā€™t think iā€™d say he was the town MVP that game for that reason

this post probably has no organization and makes little sense
