Minimums don’t help a situation since most people who will be repeat offenders will get themselves banned pretty fast afterwards
While people who learn from their mistakes will often be inordinately punished

I’m against mandatory minimums irl but here I think people are more willing to break the rules when the punishment for it is often very light. That’s my take.

if moderation was restructured then whatever but currently basically all non-requested signup bans are knowingly breaking the rules and doing it anyways, or being warned about doing that exact thing and then doing it anyways, if people know they’ll be punished but do it anyways then it’s proof that the system doesn’t deter rulebreaks

Being bit more strict but able to adapt to situation. That would be good, but isn’t priority.

Right now there were situations when mod said about not giving a fuck about rule breaks.
That’s what should be fixed first.

first malicious rulebreak should be a 3 monther imo
but i’m perfectly fine with leaving this to mod discretion since i trust all of their judgement

This is where I can agree
We can work out exact deets of other stuff later

why does this exist

I’m of the opinion that we’re invariably going to break rules occasionally, so the best thing to do is to be harsh but fair
We need to understand that a lot of people on this forum are immature teenagers in the decisions made regarding punishment, and that reason often works to solve things

What causes rulebreaks?

it shouldn’t

there are some issues behind-the-scenes that we’ve been working on, and ‘not caring about rulebreaks’ is an opinion that a mod shouldn’t possess

situation is being handled internally

people get warned, I don’t think i’ve seen a modlog for a signup ban ever for a first-time unknowing offense

Just multiply that with moody teenager and you see where the problem comes in

I want an honest answer

Because empirically what I think is happening is that you have two categories

  1. strong emotional response
  2. blatant ignorance

2 is something that should be actively made sure doesn’t happen, and I’ve no reservations with punishments there
1 is a different topic because handling it incorrectly can damage the community

hey now

there’s nothing wrong with winning Best Fake Claim as town

Yeah, happened more than once tho.

This plus Geyde is right - rules should be more… regular?
Borderline should be somehow better described?

Right now punishments only follow if someone literally reports and pushes for it, which makes some people not understand where the border really is.

1st - emotions
2nd - not knowing the rules

First cannot be fixed, while second can be.

Punishments should be more lenient in some aspects and more strict in others.

Most rules on forum should exist mainly to discourage said behaviour at which point there is no real reason for longer punishment.

In other respect if purpose is just punishment then it should be longer for exact same reason.

i am the jack of all trades
