But in that case, you would see a lot less people chancing executing the King the day before. So I don’t think it’s really necessary that Royal scum still get the opportunity.
Fair enough.
It ruined stuff like Knights and Phys though - do I just guess what to do the first few nights? Makes the game really uneven imho
Why would I protect the king if he does not matter at all?
As a BD I would just assume he is bad and who cares otherwise? Just an empty slot in the roster
Just don’t protect the king FFS. I would tell you that even before this change. King has his own guards. Now he has 6 even. King can defend himself, he does not need your help.
Right but I mean why would anyone? If he is just guarding himself he is an empty slot in the roster
As a Phys, Knight wahtever I am just pulling numbers out of the air
You say he can take care of himself like I should even care what he does; he has no value other than a vote and a late game force
This becomes whoever the king is sided with wins
As a phys or Knight my N1 targets are chosen by generating a random number and re rolling it if it’s me or king.
Even if you do that it does not change the fact the king is valueless; he makes cult games more random
The king is not valueless. He is: Confirmed at the start, Hard to kill, Unconvertable and also has vote manipulation.
And what do you mean he makes cult games more random?
Confirmed as what? “The King”? he could be any faction
And his vote could manipulate for any faction - which you won’t know for 3-4 turns
And by more random there is no Sheriff in Cult Games so unless the Prince/Obs/Noble find something you are plucking at straws or hoping they mess up
Yes. And therefore not: MM, Assassin, CL, NK or Scorned.
And you would know after that? He has vote manip for a spacific (even if unknown) faction.
I don’t see what king has to do with this. He isn’t invest so thats a non-sequitur
Exactly, he has no investigation; is an unknown faction (BD or unseen/cult) and can do nothing in the first few turns that matter? who cares?
The actual Investigators can use him to feed Information to the public without outing. The protectors can use him to get high value targets to protect and everyone else who claims to him can get a better idea of who to target to prove themselves.
Obviously if king is bad at the game then this won’t work but that just means he is high skill and requires dramatic pause Thinking!
And before you say people won’t. People ARE taking advantage of this
So as a Sheriff I am going find Unssen - Whisper to the King I found them (which everyone can see) and then the King puts them up? And assume all is good?
And if this king is evil he can guard the unseen?
Who would do that?
What does the King add to this game?
Lots of people.
Step 1: King is asking for people to whisper him random stuff (people will do this cuz why not?)
Step 2: Instead of whispering something meaningless you whisper your claim and the Unseen you found.
Step 3: King brings attention to the fact that someone found that person as unseen and he gets executed.
Step 3b: If the king is evil and does not reveal this info THEN you do it yourself and Reveal the Unseen you found AND the fact that king is Evil.
But who cares if the king is evil in the early game? What can he do?
And if you expose the king (and yourself) will the unseen/cult care? they were not planning on him being evil anyway
This change just makes the first 4 turns dumb
So to just answer your questions own by one.
1: Yes
2: You can’t guard a dead Unseen.
3: Most sheriffs early game.
4: A person to hold and organize claims.
Misdirect people when suggesting targets. If he does it well enough he will survive long enough to be a swing vote for Unseen.
They will. They may not have planned for an evil king but they definitely did not plan for a confirmed good king (Unless they converted a royal. But without that situation you wouldn’t have a game).
