Why we need more interaction with the dead

I feel it is important to allow the dead to have some influence on the game.

For one, it makes for all sorts of interesting abilities. Call of the Dead is a good example of this. It allows the dead to get information to the living, and also allow them to tell the user things they have noticed, which can help the living immensely.

It also helps keep dead players engaged in the game, which stops them from just leaving.

When I was thinking about the Priest Rework in the Master Rework of Doom, I realized one problem in giving all the interaction to a single class. If that class dies or is converted, you have cut off all access they have to the living. If you give them power after death, they can still be converted, and we don’t want unconvertibles.

So I feel we should have many classes that can interact with the dead in small ways, probably including the Priest. But we can’t let it all rely on one class, so we should have a host of minor abilities.

This could come in the form of the classes for living players, or even possibly very minor powers for dead players.

@NightX this is why you should look at the post I put in the social rework Thread xD

Isn’t that another power for the Priest though? It shouldn’t be the only class that influences the dead.

Did you look at it yet? But I see what you mean. But what if another class enables the BD to talk to the dead when he’s dead?

However I would oppose two living BD classes talking to the dead because that only builds self-confirmation, like the multiple medium problem in ToS

But I still feel Priest would be good with this ability because all of her abilities are currently Support ones. This would give her a Social ability that would add ground to the identity of a Social class.

Seance: Day (2)
Choose a player when dead. You will enable them to talk with the dead freely tonight. (Different chat tab obviously)

I heavily disagree.

Although, due to conversions, this isn’t as huge of an issue as it is in other Mafia games, I firmly believe that the dead should stay dead. If you kill somebody that has info on you, they shouldn’t be able to out you from beyond the grave.

One class that can talk to the dead is about as far as I’m willing to accept, to be honest. More than that is likely pushing it.

That Priest idea is even worse. Not only does killing somebody not take them off of the table while the Priest is alive, but killing the Priest to remedy this still doesn’t fix the issue. A single seance is powerful enough to make ToS’s Medium one of the most underrated classes in the game, with massive amounts of untapped potential. And that’s with the ability to CC a seance. Adding two of them to an already strong multi-purpose ToL class is right out.

I have two things built into me:

Once a player is dead, they are no longer able to influence the game, this means no dead chat, or resurrections.

Citizens are Important!

-> So I am biased.

Okay but Citizens are important

Citizens are pretty boring. There’s a reason they aren’t in the game.

I see no reason to force dead players from ceasing to participate in the game.

It shouldn’t be the same as being alive, but it shouldn’t make you powerless.

Ressurections are definitely bad though.

Citizens are boring cause you don’t do anything a night. That’s the main argument against citizens I see. but not doing anything gives you time to review the day looking for scummy posts

Citizens are only boring if you only play to press buttons!

The true fun comes from having the ability to win the game, find the scum, convince everyone you are town by only using your words, no trusty night actions, no stilly little comfirmable message.
Pure Skill.

Also, what would be the deterrent of death if you could still play?
By having the ability to still play after death, you remove some of the deterrent that night kills/lynches have.

I’m not saying the dead should have nearly as much power as the living. I’m talking about minor abilities.

WHY CAN YOU ACCEPT THAT HE IS DEAD :’(

but still, even simple communication abilities after dead, means that there is less reason to communicate during life.

worse than that, direct motive to not do so. When you are alive, you always have the potential of being converted… When you are dead, is when you are 100% sure of your final side, and thus can safely bring down the unseen without worrying about joining the side you just doomed.

Dead men tell no tales. Communcation with the dead is enough.

I’d like to say I’m not proposing extra dead communication classes. Call of the Dead is more than sufficient for that end.

I suppose I’m talking about things like Death Knights, or other ideas like them.

You have your Undead faction

Even if that was added it would only be 1/3 of games.

  1. I’m not a fan

And

  1. I don’t think this is going to happen anytime soon

And

  1. In fact, I’d rather see these abilities removed

Rename it to chat reviewer.

Problem solved.
