Fair enough I guess

oh yeah also much more proximate threat is the “vaccines cause autism” bullshit and the inevitable abuse that parents who believe such a thing will werak upon the child

Actually

Upon all of our children

Because we rely on herd immunity

we’re assuming the child is not neurotypical here
i’m saying anti-vaxxers would abuse their autisit children inevitably

autistic, GOODNESS can i please write correctly today?

I highly disagree with this view

do you seriously believe that people who would refuse to vaccinate their child for fear that said child would be neurodivergent would not be abusive as shit to their neurodivergent children?

I don’t think anything says “because parents are dumb and don’t want their kids to “get” autism, but choose a really stupid method to achieve that” means “they will always inevitably without fail abuse their children should they be autistic”

So yes

It could happen but that’s a dramatic overgeneralization to say it always will

but they will. if they believe that, then they would lament their child’s “”“disability”"" constantly, posting on their sympathy blogs, putting up videos of meltdowns on youtube with crying emojis in the comments. it’s dangerous to the child

Ironic we go from “oh no, Trump has backers who endorse some Nazi-like ideologies and fascism is on the rise” to making wide-reaching negative assumptions about groups of people that are not at all guaranteed to be true :man_shrugging:

Like sure

It’s dumb as fuck

And there might be a higher rate of autistic children having a bad home life amongst anti-vaxxers

But in no way do I believe that there is anything close to a majority of people who wouldn’t abuse a kid unless they were autistic

ah whatever i don’t have the energy to argue against this

It just kinda feels like you’re doing what you were just accusing others of doing :man_shrugging:

Sure, your accusation wasn’t wrong, and anti-vaxxers are, as a general rule of thumb, putting others at risk for their own bad decisions

But

They aren’t all automatically malicious for it

Nor are they all automatically going to mistreat their children should they have autism

And I take issue with this mentality

its more of mindset they develop since these opinions are almost never in vacuum plus the community which will spread it

Doesn’t change the fact that putting people in boxes and attributing worse negative actions to them than they might do is bad practice

I don’t at all disagree with anything you just said

But that by no means makes them being child abusers “inevitable”, at least as long as you don’t count the increased risk of disease

not to mention that when you’re dealing at a certain scale, true ‘always’ cases almost never occur

To clarify I dont believe that all of them would become be abusers there will ofc be induvidual exceptions for this

However I dont think We should seperate opinions from mindset And community when talking about it

I think it’s Fair to say (which I thinl Ici meant) that at least current mindset And community they would be way more abusive to such children

Which is exactly the part I take issue with lol
