Abilities that are unusable before D3

Smite would be even worse without the lock. The cult start out with only 2 players. If a paladin yolos night 1, then they could be left at only 1 player without even getting a convert off.

Here’s why it’s not:

  • It makes both the paladin and their target conversion immune. There are already plenty of conversion immune classes(and even more with the new CW). At the very least it shouldn’t affect both the paladin and their target.

  • It can kill the CL without you even knowing who the CL is. You shouldn’t be able to kill scum like that.

  • There’s no risk to using it since it can’t affect BD. All abilities should have some risk involved.

  • Paladin is already a boring class. It’s worse than the old CW. All you do is test faith certain people. With smite you don’t even get results(aside from “you killed the CL!”)

Paladins don’t always out early.

What about yolo smites?

False. Ability’s can not have risk and be fine. Investigative ability’s in general always have no risk for example beyond the risk of hitting CoD

Investigative abilities do have risk though: mind warp, frames, and tailors(which is why they should be the one hardcounter that is allowed to stay).

Those are not risks

They kind of are. You could potentially out the prince. Or kill another BD

That is not a risk to the ability. That is a risk to accusing.

Alright, but offensive/killer abilities should still have risk involved. It’s why the old cold steel needed changing.

Direct killer/offensive ability’s for sure. However smite isn’t even the only risk free killer ability.

It is though. Defend and bear can kill possessed players(though defend does need a bit of a rework. It isn’t that rewarding currently). Unless you’re talking about magic missile, but that’s scum so it’s fine.

I am referring to defend and bear which are low risk high reward ability’s like smite

They do need a bit of a rework, but they can be tricked by possessor. There’s no way to trick smite. All abilities should have a way to trick them and/or have risk involved. Bear should just be changed so it’s one use but kills all visitors. I’m not sure what to do with defend though.

Hunter is actually my favorite class and knight is fairly good too.

Hunter is fine, but defend does need a rework/some changes for another reason: It isn’t that rewarding. NKs have ways around it and assassins/CLs are easily replaced

Defend is fine because it gives a consistent way to block any kind of direct attack (besides frenzy)

Doesn’t defend only affect visitors though?

Attacking visitors. Which is almost any attacker
