[Class Suggestion] The Peasant

Okay so I realized this while playing Town of Salem; we don’t have a Neutral Amnesiac class. I know that it could make this a bit suspicious but it would be very interesting and would help buff the topic of “NEUTS IN” a bit more.

If anyone else has names for this class (because Amnesiac is directly from Town of Salem) please feel free to chip in.

Lore: The Peasant was a young man, straight out of the countryside, who came to the city to find his true life’s work. What would he do to find his calling?

And here, please choose possible passives for the Peasant. You can select as many as you want, but only one or two will be chosen that will most fit for the Peasant.

  • Pitchfork Fury (If executed, you will kill your first accuser.)
  • Poor Man (If executed, the court will not be able to vote the next night.)
  • Gravedigger (You may hear the dead at night. You cannot speak to them.)

Ideally, we should avoid exact copies of ToS Classes IMO

Yes, that’s why I was asking if others had class names and different passives/abilities for this class. Do you have any?

I don’t think it should have the hide ability. I think it should have a passive that prevents conversion though

Oh, ok, but I gave it to differentiate it from ToS Amnesiac as well as to give it an ability for longevity

Neutrals are conversation immune by default. There is no need to specify it with a passive.

I’d give this class Occupy immunity and some kind of defensive Ability.

That’s why I originally had Hide for the Peasant/Amnesiac class, but Moleland thought it shouldn’t have it, I don’t know, I’m still coming up with it. But thank you.

Something to enforce the NEUTS IN philosophy? HELL YES!!

I’m just quoting this to do an overall feedback. I like the idea of the class. I once thought of a similar class. It had different goals, however. This does indeed help with the idea to keep neuts in, but it would probably create a new trend of neuts out from the evil guys. At least, when I think of it, I, as evil, would never want to risk a new prince or a new hunter or a new physician. It would bring a nice shift to the meta. A big one, also.

Sorry but I’m gonna have to disagree with the lovely Burrito here. Immunity to being occupied does not add anything to this class. The only real instance where that passive would come in handy is when you tried to hide, got occupied and attacked. But honestly, how unlucky are you for that to happen? However, as Burrito mentioned, most of the neutral classes are conversion immune so I don’t see why you need to put that in the passive. So yeah, I’d take this passive out, but I know how you like classes to have everything (passive, day and night abilities), so let’s think of something else, shall we?

Hide is an okay ability to have on him/her.

There are two things that I’d like to see changed in this ability.

  1. It needs a time limit. The way it is right now, I’d just wait for the end game and choose the winning side in the last days. I’d make it so that you suicide if you do not choose a class until day X (4 max, in my opinion). Not having a time limit makes it as easy as pie, honestly.
  2. I think it would fit better as a day ability. After you have chosen your class, you will gain his powers tonight. You could even make it that “during the transformation, you are occupy and death immune”.

That’s what I got for you, my friend. Hope it’s useful! See you later!

Afternote - Absolute Resolve should have one use only, if you agree with the number 2 up there.

Well, do you have any ideas for a Day Ability?

NEVERMIND I SEE IT

But how is this for you now, @Sheepish? The Passive

Merc says hi

Tell him I have a job offer for him.

I was thinking that a d8 suicide would be too much, so I went into our community’s Discord and asked our guides what would be the average duration of a game. They said 8 days. So basically you’d be choosing the winning side at exactly the last day of the game.
As I said up there, my opinion is that d4 is reasonable and good. You can use all your instances of hide and make your choice safely.

Oh okay, thanks, I guess that would make optimal usage of the Peasant’s abilities before changing classes.

And do you think that when the Peasant changes to a new class, a messages should be brodcast in public chat at the start of the day or no?

I think there should be no message. Having a message would serve as proof that you are the Peasant, much like other self-proving abilities. Let other people claim Peasant to make it more balanced and interesting.

I like the idea, but it shouldn’t die at the beginning of night 4(or even have a time limit). What if it’s a cult + reaper game? And they should be able to talk to the dead at night(like psychic). This will allow the dead to influence who they become. Also, what would happen if 2 peasants both decide to become the same unique class?

I understand the assassin and cult leader(though it should be able to become them if there are no other cult/unseen left), but why not the mastermind?

@Sheepish Thank you, I think it will be a good idea to let other Neutrals claim Peasant for a while, but they’ll all get discovered if killed by Night 5. I think I’ll increase the passive from Night 4 to Night 5.

@RHCube Thanks for replying, and you have a fair point; if the Mastermind is dead and there is no Assassin, I’ll let the Peasant become the Mastermind. But also, if you read the description above, you’ll find that the Peasant is a Unique Neutral Special. This causes no conflicts, like two Princes, and what not.

Shouldn’t he be neutral special?

@NuclearBurrito The Peasant is a Neutral Special, or are you talking about a different role?

Oh wait. I misread your post. I thought you said social.
