Dead Interactions

I think completely removing the interactions with the dead is a mistake. However, we had dead interactions that were swingy and anti-NK.

So I suggest the following ways to readd dead interaction in a more balanced way.

Icy Touch

Revert to original form. Easy.

Physician

Replace Self-Care with the following tweaked version of Reanimate: (credit to CheesyKnives)

Night Ability: Reanimate: Turn all dead Blue Dragon into Awakened Souls. If they are already awakened, give them an extra use of Death’s Judgement.

Awakened Soul

Blue Dragon Special

Passive: Undead

Night Ability: Death’s Judgement: Cast a vote to kill a player, bypassing all forms of protection. This will only take effect if the majority of Awakened Souls choose the same target, otherwise it will fail and you will keep the use. 1 use. (AFK and players who have left don’t count to the majority)

Mystic

Mystic

Blue Dragon Social

Day Ability: Telepathy

Day Ability: Conduit, but targets are chosen during the day.

Night Ability: Call of the Dead: You will no longer hear the linked people, but instead you may hear, but not talk to the dead. They are notified when you use this. 4 uses. (The players are still linked)

Possessor

Anyone who’s body has been jumped into will become a Trapped Soul.

Trapped Soul

Any Special

Passive: Trapped: You may not hear or speak to the dead. The Possessor can always hear you, and may speak to you at night.

Passive: Release: If the Possessor is killed or jumps again, you will be freed and return to normal dead chat.

Cult/Unseen

May now always speak to their allies at night, whether dead or alive.

Awaken souls is too strong.

I’m firmly in the “why bother?” camp.

I’m pretty sure we’ll all be fine with this within a few weeks. Although I definitely see the appeal of letting dead players contribute, and some games (such as Rainbow Six: Siege) use this to great effect, allowing dead players to communicate effectively and help their team.

However, the fact that, in ToL, you don’t know who your teammates are, or how big it is, definitely hamstrings this aspect, and turns dead interaction into a more negative force overall.

We’re only making the experience worse by removing dead interaction.

It’s nice to be able to do something, even if it isn’t huge. And I’ve never seen dead interaction work against the user.

We also wall of a host of potential abilities.

It’s a fun addition that’s worth every downside.

I like Trapped Soul.

can we elaborate on trapped soul ?

They can’t do dead interaction until the Poss dies or jumps again.

I really like the idea of Trapped Soul. I feel like it’s a better alternative to removing Call of the Dead completely, and even if Call of the Dead stays removed, it would be cool to talk to whoever’s possessing you at night.

Unseen and Cult already know their allies.

But even if you are BD you know you are telling an ally information. And if you are reanimated, you need to judge who to use the ability on.

It definitely doesn’t work against their own team.

I also feel that these 3 of Aquillon’s arguments are strong reasons for keeping dead interaction.

What about the argument"Since about 70% of the people leave the game after being dead(not kidding about the number, I had several games when I was unable to revive a DK due to leavers) the majority of the players probably sees being dead as not interesting, which means dead interactions should be removed so that they can leave without us having to ban large parts of the community"

Classes do need to be not soley focused on the dead to account for this, and it also helps to have abilities affect the entire dead chat in order to lower the chances of just failing.

However, as long as it isn’t dependent on dead chat, it can still be a useful and engaging side ability.

And while many players do leave, that isn’t all players.

As long as Psychic/Physician can be useful without their dead based secondary abilities, it’s still an interesting part of the game.

@Ellie - do you have stats on % of people who leave while dead that you’d be willing to share with us to put this in perspective?

Trapped Soul is pretty genius so you wouldn’t say “Psychic 5 is poss”

Replying to this just to indicate that I agree that removing dead interactions are a problem, if nothing else. Obviously.

I do not, but it’s pretty obvious when you’re playing that the majority of people leave.

It’s not fun having your abilities be unusable because people leave the game when they are allowed to.
So to fix that problem, there are two solutions, force people to stay while dead, or remove all dead interaction.

Nobody wants to be forced to stay. If you want to make them want to stay, then you’re gonna end up with ways the dead can heavily impact the current game, at which point killing someone is almost pointless.

I can imagine the dead playing tic tac toe with each other

That’s the kind of genius thinking we need!

Boslof, you know what to do. :+1:

It was something we had been planning on for a while. We just needed to get the gold thing implemented first.

I was going to say that but I didn’t
