Decision regarding the use of the word “lynch”

so, just to be clear, it’d be like if a veteran might not like fireworks cause it reminds them of gunshots from war but ppl aren’t going to ban fireworks even if it makes them uncomfortable and it’d be up to the veteran to avoid them or get over their fear?

They can’t demand fireworks be banned because people use them in unacceptable ways - especially when they have an acceptable use.

i dont think this is quite the same

I’m trying to focus on inability to distinguish something dangerous from something harmless in this dissection

^^this except my stance is “that feels like a jerk move tho”

adding onto this, yes, if you shot a firework in someone’s face or something that’d be bad and likely get you banned from purchasing or being near fireworks forever but just enjoying them by yourself or in an acceptable place is fine

Basically
I think this harms more people than it helps because there are completely valid takes to be made from both sides
Aka this issue over something mostly frivolous can actually create enemies when it shouldn’t

It’s something I’m afraid of

Eh
Why am i even arguing at this point
Main point being that personally i think its kinda bad to deny something that a group has requested that ppl stop
Side point being that “lynch” is not quite flavorful for this forum

Just know that you wont be using “lynch” in my games
It’s not flavorful anyways :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m crashing this plane with no survivors

I see. I’m going to run through later and try and find why that thread was created to ensure the possibility was a person of color actually being offended.
I think the chances are much higher with the intent on this thread considering that the protests weren’t happening as much then.

yea but you can’t realistically please everyone in life

also knowing that someone has ptsd and trying to help them recover or not be near traumatizing things vs some random vet intruding upon a 4th of july festival or something and demanding that the fireworks be stopped is different

It seemed to have been not too serious based off the initial post and responses to it

I feel like an ass talking about the situation like this

The point is that I actually haven’t seen a group of color anywhere suggesting this is offending them
It’s all about people who are ‘virtue seeking’ which was what I was trying to describe before but didn’t know the word of it.

yea, i dont really care whether or not we use it but i still feel like it’s a somewhat unnecessary change

This is what I’m saying. People are scared of looking like a racist.
I’m going to oppose these issues without pressure or nothing will get done.

true lol

you don’t need to prove that you’re not a racist but ig ppl feel the need to virtue signal or smth? idk

It’s more that they don’t want to look like a racist than they want to look like they’re supporting the black community when it comes to these issues imo.
