FoL Feedback Thread

We don’t have to know their reasons honestly. If you just replace out 4 times in a row or a similar measure to that you demonstrate that you don’t have the time to play and thus just shouldn’t play.

Reasons behind it are irrelevant.

And they will be suspended for this because they obviously do not have the self-control to not join a game they can’t play

I think reasons would be important if it wouldn’t be so incentivizible to lie if we employed that policy
But it would be so they aren’t.

Also sequentially, because you can mass replace out of several games you’re in obviously.

They can play part of an appeal.

i still find it would be too easy to lie grandiosely even in that aspect for a lot of people.

Which is why this seems unsolveable for me

If you have the drive to lie grandiosely for that, you have the drive to play a game.

Fair.

Reasons will not do anything except break trust

We cannot punish for different people replacing out

We can only punish for repeated replacements by the same player

Of course.

One will lead to the other eventually, I am just speaking from a perspective of hosting frustration. That’s why it came up. Maybe there are different reasons my games weren’t liked then, but what can you do. :man_shrugging:

i think we’re talking in circles here
Some of us disagree as to whether or not the status quo is perfect or not
But i think we all believe that anything other than the status quo would be far worse
So the status quo should stay.

I think yours was one of the first when it became dire, but there were multiple games after it with the same problem. Sometimes slots had to be modkilled cuz there were no more Backups players (who has more than 4 backups tbh), I think once a slot was killed cuz already the third player replaced out of it.
I wouldnt blame your game

What is this ev nonsense, I am no expert but why does that give positive things to the second guy that has the slot

Because replacing someone unable to play with someone able to play may be helpful

But look

A: We absolutely shouldn’t make “can I barely meet the minimum posting requirements” our target for playing games

B: The idea behind the game is that each slot is active and competitive — we force-replace slankers because they actively detract from the game

C: Ultimately it’s much better if you can tell me “yo I’ma need a replacement please start looking” then if you force me to wait until you’ve spent multiple days not posting to find one

D: While replacing in a stronger player can somewhat swing the game, that’s going to be much more fun for everyone than a dead game would have been

E: There are already measures in place to punish people who try to abuse this privilege

All told I really don’t think the system needs any change. If you think someone is abusing replacement, report them, if you think players are are too inactive and need too many replacements, go play on another site.

In particular

I’ve literally had this happen to me, see why I didn’t sign up for anything between April and November last year

The idea that someone should join a game of FoL and give it less time than they would a game of ToL is one that I shouldn’t need to explain is just atrocious to hold. I don’t believe you honestly believe that’s okay.

It is less than ideal, but life happens. And replacing out is definitely more distractive then just a day or two of low activity. You haven’t played yet in a game where there were more replacements than half the player number, I suppose? It’s awful to have to play in a “replacer-game”.

We won’t be able to find this setup on any other site.

Uh

Of course I have?

Hell I’ve had to host a game like that

And I’d take it over a game where over half the players no-post every day of the week
