I can actually explain part of that.
It is actually natural for almost everybody to remain for at least a short period of time after death, like an hour or so. But quite a bit of people remain longer than that, for weeks or months, or even years for some, after they die. They usually fade once they can rest easy, so to speak. Like, promising to feed their cat can do it, for instance. Although, usually they change into being quite self-centered/having almost total tunnel vision after they died. You seem to be fine, though, but that’s probably for the same reason you can make yourself visible to the living.

But it does point to souls not just fading into nothingness after they leave this place. So that bodes well.
