Did you get made to sing songs about god in primary Icibalus?

itinerant teachers were a regular feature of life at Icischool Primary, where just about every other week a lesson would be taught by some random weirdos.

fun fact: the only good ones were the two music teachers, because they were Cool™ and somehow actually managed to carry it off

religion test

“Draw your mental image of god.”

Writes “I am an atheist, and therefore don’t believe in god.”

“Even if you don’t believe in god, you should still have a mental image. -2”

Me: confusion

yes, but only jewish songs, which made no fucking sense because I don’t live in a place with a high jewish population, and the singing teacher wasn’t jewish to my knowledge

Good morning, Sulit.
Though its probably more of a midday.

like I know very few Christian songs beyond the few that you basically have to be taught because technically the UK is a theocracy, but about 5 seperate songs that are either jewish or… i think one from some island religion???

to be clear i’m not saying that there’s a weird jewish bias or anything like that because that’s not what’s happening here, but it was really weird that the school seemed to focus heavily on religions that aren’t very big in the UK

we only actually were told what Islam was in Year 6

we got Jewish Songs As Badly Reimagined By The Christian Music Teachers

also at least once An Advent Song That We’re Claiming Is Jewish Because It Talks About Candles :upside_down_face:

(also lots and lots of random Christianish music)

it’s like
there’s a Buddhism section on the Religious Studies exam, but Buddhism isn’t this massive thing in the UK
for seemingly no reason

I think the school curriculum is under the impression that teaching us about religions we likely won’t encounter is the same thing as teaching us to accept religous diversity.

Well, that’s midday for me if we take my usual sleeping schedule.
See, it all makes sense.

Whoever is in charge of these schools needs fired

but Ici, if we acknowledge that other religions exist then our students might stop being Christian!!! think of the children!!!

…this probably isn’t helping my case that my high school was a public school

which is the utterly bizarre way the library worked
in that nobody was told how the library worked
