Mastermind's Spy

Even though Apostle has a Cult Spy, Blue Dragon still uses the omega-meta tactic of mass-claiming to King and Prince, that games don’t feel fresh nor clean anymore. While I know that this is highly efficient, it ruins the feel of the game. And there is basicallt no drawback, as the amount of times Apostle is a Starting Cult is only 1/12 of the time. So I suggest something be done to deter mass claiming while giving the Unseen some form of compensation for failed conversions, but also on adding strategy to the usually reckless Night 1 plays. Noble’s Spy should also be nerfed to give scum an edge in whisper knowledge.

Please leave feedback on if this would be a healthy solution on the game.

No. Whispers are already discouraged plenty(no OE and new maid spy/apostle). If anything the maid spy changes should be reversed, whispers are discouraged too much.

Just let possessor see all whispers ez gg

66% of the time, Unseen is the faction in the game. This results in the fact that, even if there HAPPENS to be a Noble and the Unseen HAPPENS to convert them, the chance is very low that Day 2 is almost always a day where whispering is without risk. While Cult could have an Apostle, the chance is ridiculously low that you start out with one, nevertheless convert one. Regardless, whichever faction BD does face, usually they won’t have any way to effectively prevent mass claiming to King, unless by some magic Unseen and Cult can kill both King and Prince N1.

Also if whispers really were discouraged, it wouldn’t be used to fuel the King whisper meta to the point where it works so well.

Now that the king name is gold.

I’m even more encouraged to whisper to him cause he looks important.

(Maybe joking)

Whispers are not being discouraged right now. With 66% chance of Unseen games, and a 25% chance of starting Apostle in a Cult game, you end up with a 8.33% chance of having Apostle at the start of the game.

When there’s an Apostle catching it all, yes, Cult tends to hit key targets easier. That’s the swingy factor of it. However, with majority of whisper-listeners being Nobles, you essentially have the weaker version of Prince claim meta: everyone claims to the King, and due to Nobles listening, the King has to point out 2 Hunter claims or 3 Sheriffs, otherwise the Noble will call them out on it.

Maid Spy was a mistake.

Now that we think about it would it truly be bad to give possessor power to see all whispers?

Well maybe Maid Spy is a mistake, but Cult Spy and maybe Covert Spy are deserving of the knowledge, as the point of being the minority faction is to be informed of BD’s actions

NKs exist to balance the game though Litten, not swing it

But it would discourage whispers.

If we wanted to crush the whisper meta we give possessor ability to read all whispers.

If we wanted to semi crush whisper meta we give possessor ability to read all whispers if he fails a kill/occupied somehow. And give scum more ways to read whispers

yes but it’s more consistent for the MM to be able to gain uses of collecting whispers, maybe resulting in strategic Foresight checks N1 instead of a convert.

mumbles on how he hates people who foresights N1

Reposting my Possessor buff suggestion. Won’t stop reposting it until the Possessor gets significant buffs.

The Possessor

Neutral Killer
Driven (Passive) - Immune to occupation at night and immune to target changing. Also allows the user to see the contents of all whispers during the day.
Blackened Shield (Passive) - Immune to death at night.
Marionette (Day) - Force a player to accuse another player and prevent them from voting further. - 3 uses
Ethereal Leap (Day) - Choose a target, and if the user is executed at daytime they will use posses on their target, bypassing healing, prevention, and night immunity, while also consuming a charge of Possess if they still have one. If the user survives the day then they will not be able to use any of their abilities during the night and will instead leap into their chosen target. Ethereal Leap is usable during the night if the user is jailed, taking effect regardless if the Possessor is executed by the Prince or not. - 1 use
Puppet Strings (Night) - Control a player and force them to kill another. You will also see whispers to and from the controlled player the next day. They will not be aware that they were controlled. Note that they still act normally that night; this does not replace their action. - Infinite uses
Possess (Night) - You will take over a person’s body, leaving your old one behind. Your target can not be healed. The old body will keep the class and logbook you had before. Your first victim will appear as a class of your choice to everyone. The second will appear as the first victim’s class. Additionally, when you possess a player, you will receive their deathnote. Additionally, you will gain your target’s passive while in their body. - 3 uses
Your objective is to defeat the Blue Dragon, Unseen, Cult and any neutrals that dare stand in your way.

I made a mistake didn’t I?

There’s nothing wrong with mass claiming to king. Games are boring if people don’t out or claim. The only change I would support would be reverting the maid spy changes(aristo and apostle should keep the new one though) and giving possessor a passive which lets them hear all whispers. That should be plenty.

The new maid spy is a mistake. The old one was fine.

I would be fine with that, but only if noble’s maid spy was changed back to the old one(aristocrat and apostle should keep it though).

I get that there’s nothing wrong in theory, but in the past few games I played on the recent patch, no one except the King is scumreading because only he has all the claims
