Merc is far too powerful when contacted to Cult/Unseen

I think you put too much faith in people to not just click on a random person so they can leave the game.

Unfortunately

The problem with new merc is the abilities. All of them are so heavily scum favored. Even when contracted to bd the rebound will just kill any bd visiting.

The difference between a merc contracted to bd and a merc contracted to Cult/Unseen is astronomical.

I agree with current rebound, it almost always helps scum whether your target is BD or not. Old rebound was really situational though and you almost never got to use it. I think it would be better if rebound was just a normal attack that doesnā€™t require his contract to be accused.

TBH, Iā€™ve also noticed this. The easiest solution here is to always up a Mercā€™s contract for claim as soon as possible and scrutinize their logs closely. Iā€™ve been doing this so far for your stated reasons and whenever the court agrees to do this we easily nip any problems in the bud. The Merc is fine right now, I just wish that the suicide portion would return for Unseen and Cult contracts as well as the fact that theyā€™re an additional evil vote wastes a night for the Prince or the court and overall fells kind of clunky.

That requires you to not only know the merc but their target. Once you find the merc, sure, but if you donā€™t find him quickly, it wonā€™t matter

Remove occupation immunity, make Merc convertible again, and remove the latest changes

Occupation immunity I say stays

Give a TINY BUFF

Why? Everything needs counterplay.

So? Meaning you auto lose it occupied?

Not when that is their one job

Cough inquistor

Just my opinion here, but I think Mercenary shouldnā€™t just be a +1 to a faction.

However, I have no idea how to turn it into anything else without it just always contracting Prince.

My suggestion of the way he gains his targets counters that.

If the target is BD, they will either not choose a target or choose Prince though.

And it will mostly result in the same faction keep the Merc.

The issue of Prince always claiming early is a separate thing and also needs to be fixed. Once that is fixed merc always ending up on him would not be a problem.

Very true.

However, it still wouldnā€™t be viable until we fix that.

Just donā€™t let them target prince or already restricted players. Just a generic ā€œyou canā€™t contract this playerā€ message. Although it still doesnā€™t solve disconnects or players who leave immediately on death.

Nah, restricting them from Prince doesnā€™t really fix anything beyond a very surface level

I just look at like 15 game logs. I saw Prince claim early 3 times. One survived 1 day, one survived 2, and the other survived 3. They all lost.
