Yes, because they are still an inevitable vote for scum and they can even sacrifice themselves during a lynch, so yes. They need to go.

It’s 100% the right move, but only when they can execute. Not going to talk more about Prince, because it just serves to out them. 
Merc to me feels like little threat unless their targets are sus; the problem with that is that Merc outing their targets makes their targets more likely to be scum thanks to conversion. I’d say that Derps can be left alone until and unless they start defending scumtells; that signals that they’re working against BD with scum targets, and then Prince can grab it without too much fuss.
Something i’ve noticed is nobody ever understands that prince’s executes are valuable. He only has three and more than half the players cause him to lose them all. He shouldn’t ever waste his time on neuts if they aren’t scum neuts like sellsword and even then, another BD killer could deal with said neut.
I’d imagine he would have also given a soft here, something like “He probably isn’t Mercenary”.

Yes, inevitable. They keep their targets alive from nightkills and conversions are continuously happening. The chance is incredibly slim, that they wouldn’t screw us up at some point either through taking the lynch with their day ability or just plainly voting against us later.
And that is even if their starting targets would be both town, whereas they can be NK’s or starting scum too.
Of course, I might be reading Merc as a class all wrong. And to respond to Kyo, I don’t think that Derps going for a fakeclaim on D1 would have picked Merc of all things.
Hypothetical question
If drunk debs 1 person to another and hunter HM’s the debbed person to their deb target, would that kill the debbed person?
