You know, I just went back and looked again and it wasn’t as great as I thought it was. Perhaps I was subconsciously influenced by other people v reading the slot.
Still, posts like these are pretty nitpicky to the point where I don’t think a wolf concerned with powerwolfing would notice or mention these things, particularly the latter post. I get the impression it’s a villager trying to scrutinise people, but I will admit I was v reading the slot too easily.
Okay, that makes sense.
I think I’ll likely have two separate categories in my list of villagers for this exact reason. I think Surveillance and Trapsetter are on a higher level of villagery to Cryogenics, Officer and Communications.
I made that post on phone, actually, all of them are so far, later on I will probably get access to a computer but I don’t have one right now so it’s hard to make wall posts
If I ever get around to backreading then I’ll see if I can take a closer look here. This also coincided with you making some more solvey posts (which led to me getting an organic townread on you, despite looking like my post copied Surveillance’s) so it’s either townies getting to town on you on their own volition or wolves not wanting to get accused of picking low-hanging fruit.
(Or you’re a wolf and having a good game so far )
Have to agree with this a little. Surveillance going from 0-100 on me being a wolf and now saying that I’m cleared has me wondering if they were just overblowing their scumread on me early on for reactions, since I don’t think a wolf points out this townslip and clears me for it since they could pretty easily keep me in the PoE.
I think I’m villareading it a little, actually? I might be drinking the wine, but the question I’m asking myself is this. If you’re the wolf vig in a game where only two of you need to die for villagers to win the game, would you intentionally invite that much negative attention onto your slot?
If I rand wolf vig/Security in this game (I guess if I rand Security at all, no matter what my alignment is), I’m being extremely collaborative and would offer to use the kill as a second town execution (which I think is the best way to play the role). Again, I could be drinking too much wine or imposing on other people how I’d use the role, but I’d imagine a wolf vig would try to get town points or lie low by being very cooperative about their shot.
At the point where I am in reading, this read list looks pretty OK. I’ll give my own readlist once I’m caught up but you guys keep posting while I’m backreading lol.
I can see how you might think this, but I think it’s much more likely that town would simply cooperate here. It also makes perfect sense as a wolf to do what they are doing, because it grants them the progression to take bad shots on villagers without being killed for it. This means as a wolf they can use their ability as effectively as possible, while also getting townread due to having a bullheaded attitude.
I agree it’s unlikely to come from a wolf, but I do think they genuinely believed in their initial scumread although it’s possible they were exaggerating it (especially since they were referring to you as “just a wolf”)
I have to say that Coroner being the literal last person to show up makes me a little worried about the veracity of results we can get from them.
Have you mentioned who these are yet, Security?
I mentioned mechanics but didn’t want to talk about them because I am pretty bad at talking about and optimizing mechanics. Plus, I think that excessive mechanical discussion is easy for wolves to partake in and get townread off of. So that’s why I mentioned it lightly at the beginning but didn’t dive deep into it - it’s not my area of expertise.
LMAO, this made me laugh out loud (especially as I’m sitting on a pretty comfy office chair right now), so thanks for that.
My quotes got deleted but I think Trap and Cryo agreeing to coordinate night actions is AI. I think if there were exactly one wolf between them they’d be less likely to coordinate publicly, as opposed to just softing or something instead. As T/T or W/W I think coordination is key, and right now if they are W/W they have me fooled already.
What point in the thread were you at when you made this post? Asking for reasons.
This is a good observation. I think Student said that they were going to reread Officer. I’ll probably do the same once I settle into my backreading phase. One post of there’s that kinda pinged me was this:
Because it feels like a post you make when you’re trying to figure out what villager you would post rather than it being an organic thought? Not sure if anyone else got the same poor gut feeling I did.
BTW I didn’t interpret this as a town slip, I thought Tele meant that they wouldn’t know exactly which player was behind the alt account of their partner. Still reading so I guess I’ll see if I’m wrong.
