Pathfinder Campaign -- Tyrant's Grasp

this system is not as kind
There are strict encumberance rules depending on the amount of weight you’re carrying along with your strength score

I can help you pick out equipment that i would recommend for your character though

I wouldn’t say it “isn’t kind,” more like it encourages minmaxing and exploiting the rules/system to get as powerful as possible.

At least that’s my impression. I could indeed use your help in picking out equipment. I’m convinced that my equipment should suit the party’s needs, though. Not sure what everyone else is taking.

Not at all. Minmaxing is possible, sure, but i and most DM’s heavily discourage it and instead recommend starting with a story. This campaign is not on the higher end difficulty wise.

All i was referring to there is that you have to be more careful and economical with what else you choose to have on person in this system than most others.

I’m not really complaining about the system, it just comes across as different. And it’s evidently combat-focused.

We’ll see how much I enjoy it.

it’s combat rich, that’s correct.
I would say this particular campaign, story wise, is about 50% combat, 30% puzzles, and 20% NPC roleplay.

however player on player roleplay will always be available

I watched a couple of episodes of Critical Role on YouTube, and it was pretty fun, but it’s also kinda dumb to me how you can get away with almost anything because your characters are so powerful.

I dunno, maybe I just enjoy starting out as super weak and growing in power over time. Don’t wanna be biased either way before we start.

this is exactly what’s happening

everyone is starting at level 1. The game’s story takes place across six modules. The first module goes from levels 1 through 4.

There won’t be any xp. Every level-up will be milestone-based.

PathfiN.1der

that was so forced

I never watched Critical Role so idk what your expectations are ^^
I watch some small roleplay groups where it’s clear that they just recorded their normal groups, not making it just for the show

My first pathfinder group played gridless and without any kind of miniatures btw
We did play with Flanking rules and such, but we mostly just described the movement

gridless is not possible here as the game gives you the maps

Yea online this makes definitely sense
Also it’s easier to determine then who will be hit by your area effect spells, or if the archer has cover or not
In my own games I mostly did it for fights which I knew would only go for 1 round and the enemy has no real chance against this hordes of pathfinders ^^

Pick something that’s within your weapon proficiency + armor proficiency, pickup your starter kit for Sorcerer and that should be you good to go I think. That’s what I’ve done anyway for Alchemist.

I actually avoided Weapon Proficiency for mine though because Scythe doesn’t benefit from weapon proficiency anyway and it has really high crit rates

As Sorcerer, I have none.
