Preview of Patch 1.1.0 2: Electric Boogaloo

Patch will be out in the next few days.

General:

  • New simplified game mode called Casual. (If it is popular enough, new players will be required to play X number of games of it.)
  • Old game mode now named Classic.
  • Everyone can now draw in their deathnote.
  • Spy/Cult Maid no longer counts as a visit.
  • Disabled the early game over checks for the time being. (Games would end when they shouldn’t, even when things like DK’s and abilities were accounted for.)
  • New female armor and crossbow execution added.

Assassin:

  • Distract now usable during trials.

Enforcer:

  • Removed Armored passive.
  • Protection now prevents visits to targeted Unseen member.

Duchess:

  • Dark Wisp changed - Discover a player’s class. 2 uses.

King:

  • Removed Allies from starting King.
  • Added Night Ability Order to starting King - Prevent a player from voting tomorrow. 4 uses.
  • Abilities no longer count as visiting.

Knight:

  • Changed Sacrifice icon. :breast_feeding:

Herbalist:

  • Replaced Defile with Abscission - Make an Unseen member appear as Blue Dragon tonight. Unlimited uses.

Mastermind:

  • Can’t Touch This now hides the Mastermind’s occupy immunity again.

Noble & Aristocrat:

  • Snoop limited to 1 use. Improved Snoop, so that the journals will now transfer over when converted.

Nightwatch:

  • Changed Watch Carefully - Reveal all players that visit the Unseen. 2 uses.

Observer:

  • Changed Window Peek - Discover all classes that visit a player. You will not know who visited. 2 uses.

Physician:

  • Renamed to Medic and recieved new night abilities.
  • Night Ability First Aid - Heal a player back to life if they were attacked.
  • Night Ability Quarantine - Heal a player’s poison and bleeding, and prevent all visitors. Can only be used on a player once.

Princess:

  • Flirt now show Killer/Support and Offensive/Social.
  • Will-o-Wisp changed - Discover a player’s faction. 3 uses.

Psycho King:

  • Now permanently death immune at night.
  • Abilities no longer count as visiting.

Ritualist:

  • Tornado reduced to two uses.
  • Brotherhood changed to single target, uses increased to three.

Sorcerer:

  • Magic Dust uses reduced to 2.
  • Circle of Death uses reduced to 2.
  • New Day Ability Magic Cloak - Hides your visits at night. 2 uses.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed a bug with some abilities not being usable during trials.
  • No longer shows multiple healing messages.
  • Fixed a bug where sometimes people wouldn’t show up as visiting. The only abilities or classes that shouldn’t show up as visiting will say so in the class card.
  • Some others.

Casual Game Mode:

Core Differences:

  • Changed almost all Blue Dragon classes and their conversions.
  • Prince remains the same.
  • The max number of each non-unique Blue Dragon class is 3.
  • Only the Unseen can spawn.
  • The Sorcerer and Inquisitor cannot spawn, but all other neutrals still can.
  • There is no Royal Blood.

Magistrate - Investigative Blue Dragon

  • Spawns every game, is unique, and is unconvertable.
  • Day Ability Scout - Send a scout to watch a player. You will be alerted if they are converted.
  • Night Ability Expert Investigation - Determine if a player is part of the Unseen.
  • Night Ability Surveillance - Prevent visitors and learn the name of those that try. You will be alerted if an Unseen member tries. 3 uses.

Princess - Investigative Blue Dragon

  • Same as Classic

Knight - Killer Blue Dragon

  • Same as Classic

Butler - Offensive Blue Dragon

  • Same as Classic

Mystic - Social Blue Dragon

  • Passive Call the Dead - Communicate with the dead at night.
  • Day Ability Telepathy - Telepathically send a message to everyone, they will not know who sent it. 2 uses.
  • Day Ability Private Matter - All whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. 2 uses.
  • Night Ability Read Mind - See whispers to and from a player tomorrow. Cannot target King. Does not count as visiting.

Medic - Support Blue Dragon

  • Same as Classic

Duchess - Investigative Unseen (Converted from Princess)

  • Same as Classic

Enforcer - Support Unseen (Converted from Knight)

  • Same as Classic

Servant - Offensive Unseen (Converted from Butler)

  • Same as Classic

Seer - Social Unseen (Converted from Mystic)

  • Day Ability Telepathy - Telepathically send a message to everyone, they will not know who sent it. 2 uses.
  • Day Ability Private Matter - All whispers to and from you will be hidden from the public. 2 uses.
  • Night Ability Read Mind - See whispers to and from a player tomorrow. Cannot target King. Does not count as visiting.

This is a good start, but it’s still underpowered. It should last the entire day

I agree that allies needed a change, but the starting king will be useless now. Replace it with this:
Confine - During the day, your target will not be able to speak to or hear anyone but you. They may not be voted up for treason or targeted by day abilities. They may not use day abilities. Everyone will be told who you confine.

This is a bad change. Herbalist will be useless now. Defile didn’t need any changes. The only change herbalist needed was giving it the same heal as physician instead of a fake heal.

It was fine at 2 uses.

This wasn’t needed. The only change physician needed was the removal of Revive.

Why? It was fine as is.

This is too big of a nerf. It will be useless now. It wasn’t even that useful before.

Why? Inquisitor needed a rework, not a buff. It’s hard enough to win as sorcerer, and way too easy to win as inquis.

Why? It needed a buff if anything. At least make it so it’s usable at any time, can target self, and bypasses night immunity to make up for it.

Also Snoop at 1 less use isn’t really less bad

It’s one of those abilities, like ToS’s Spy, that irrevocably changes how you are forced to play whether it exists or not. One less use doesn’t change that.

I was hoping for the change of Allies but this is a lot of change, I need some time to process this all

That was really good, tbh, and this does allow repeat poisions/bleeds to work eventually

Okay I take back what I said about Phys change, it still sucks to lose Death Knight, although maybe we’ll see Priest back again, but I think that splitting Heal for Phys indirectly makes Alchemist more useful for BD, resulting in less insta-exe Alch claims, Neuts IN, But if I’m being very honest? By removing Allies from King, Alch lynches will go down significantly, so there wasn’t as big of a point in removing Phys’ Heal. Heal was one of the most balanced abilities in the game.

Mastermind, Assassin, Enforcer changes were much needed, and the Observer and Princess changes make them more thematically correct.

However, I don’t like the idea of a Casual Mode, as said above, it will split the playerbase unless a few things would be implemented.

I feel that if the whole point of Casual is to help players understand the genre of Social Deduction, then Casual Mode should only be an option for new players. When they start the game, ask them if they are unfamiliar to Social deduction or comfortable. If they say unfamiliar, have them play 3 to 7 games of Casual Mode before opening up Classic Mode. The host should be able to start games in Casual with at least 12 players. And Veteran players should not be allowed to play Casual Mode, as the whole point is to help newbies understand the genre, and then join Classic Mode to experience the actual game.

I’m starting to feel that the game has lost its way. That changes are being made for the sake of it, rather than balancing what works and making new content. It’s no wonder people complain and get angry that they can’t keep up when massive, game changing patches come along every month or so.

I am glad that the advice myself and others were mentioning, that switching from Casual to Classic would be confusing since the classes are different, was heard and taken into account but to be honest, I don’t like this patch.

Just my opinion though, obviously the devs need to take everything they hear/read into account, not just my thoughts.

Not only is the patch full of much needed balance changes, there is literally a new gamemode. Is that not good enough to classify as “new content”?

I don’t see the need for most of these “balances”. Which aren’t actually balancing anything, they are just unnecessary changes to classes that didn’t REALLY need them.

Removing DK wasn’t a balance, it was a change. Altering the heals of the Physician? Unnecessary.

Changing Allies for the king? Stupid, been done before and always gets reverted. Read Discord General, we’re all saying King is completely pointless now and might as well be killed instantly on D4. Cos he might as well be AFK for the first 3 nights for all the good he will do.

The Peek change for Observer? “Yay, I learned a bunch of classes visited this person…this info is useless to me though cos I don’t know who those people actually are”. And that’s if the stars align and you actually peek on someone who’s been visited. Which, like Smite working, is rather rare. I think I’ve seen Smite work 2/3 times in 300 hours.

Herbalist changing for Defile wasn’t “balance”, since when was Defile “unbalanced”. It’s just silly. And all they need to do now is make the MM appear as BD every night. What’s the point in that class?

Snoop limited to 1 use and “improved”…still a completely boring and mostly useless class unless they survive till end game. That’s not balance, that’s just glossing over the fact that no one really likes noble at the moment and not actually improving him.

And the new game mode is stupid, in my opinion, and not necessary. It’s a dumbed down “idiot proof” version of the actual game. So no, it’s not new content, it’s just the normal game that’s been dumbed down a little for newer players.
