Sheriff and Paladin merge version 1

Explanation/Why Sheriff and Paladin should be merged
  • I get why a scum cop is needed(to prevent conversion from getting out of hand), but there doesn’t need to be a separate cop for each faction. It is important to know which enemies you are dealing with(reaper/possessor/sorcerer and cult/unseen), and playstyles can change based on your enemies. It’s not fair for the Blue Dragon to know what the opposing faction is at the start of the game. Plus this is also a game based around social deduction, and instantly knowing the enemy faction is not deduction.

  • They’re boring(IMO). All you do is check players each night and get 2 results.

  • They become useless once their respective faction is dead.

  • Smite is overpowered. It makes 2 players conversion immune(and there are enough unconvertables. It’s not uncommon for a converter to go several nights without a successful conversion). On top of that it can kill the Cult Leader, and you do not even have to know who they are. All non-investigative abilities should have some risk involved. Finally, smite takes little skill. Sure, you have to time the usage, but I’m mainly referring to how it works on yourself here.

  • Surveillance is just a better Expert Investigations, the only advantage Expert Investigations has is unlimited uses.

Notes
  • Paladin should be removed for now, but it should be brought back and reworked sometime in the future.

  • Sheriff will still be a guaranteed class.

Blue Dragon Investigative

Night ability 1: Inspect(Uses: Unlimited)- Determine if your target is Scum(Any Unseen/Cult member) or not suspicious
Night ability 2: Surveillance(Uses: 2)- Choose a class. You will be notified if your target is that class.

Day ability 1: Scout(Uses: 2)- You will be alerted if a scum attempts to visit your target. Remains on your target until you command them to target someone else
Day Ability 2: Expert Investigations(Uses:2)- If Inspect finds scum, then you will be told their exact class

Marshal

Unseen Investigative

Passive 1: Prisoner- You will be notified who is jailed each night.

Night ability 1: Probe(Uses: Unlimited)- Determine your target’s exact class if they are a part of the Blue Dragon
Night ability 2: Warrant(Uses: 3)- Determine your target’s class if they are not a part of the Blue Dragon.

Question. If you had to then what would you make the paladin if there was no merge? (meaning paladin is still an investigative who’s primary ability is specifically to find cult)

I’m not sure how exactly to rework it but I would start by making smite not kill the CL. That’s the main ussue with paladin, it can kill only the CL without even knowing who they are(and it’s boring)

Think about it. Because that sort of rework would be more likely to actually happen

What’s strong about it? And what should it be changed to?

Also, here’s another reason to merge them:

  • A small buff to scorned. They can now claim to be a cop without the worry of claiming the wrong one

It wasn’t too hard to pick which one to claim, you just had to go by the amount of deaths n1 and n2. if there’s none, claim pally.

The amount of deaths isn’t always reliable. The unseen/NK could’ve hit an immune, or there could be a yoloing neut.

SMITE should require you selecting a target, if that target try to convert you or your protected target, it will kill him. Otherwise it will only prevent the convert (showing an notification)

Still broken. The main issue with smite is that it’s a hard counter.

Passive 1:Restricted Magic- Lantern and Clear Mind may not target the same player.
Night ability 1: Ice Ward(Uses: 3)- Prevent anyone from targeting your target
Night ability 2:Royal Decree(Uses: 1)- Issue a royal decree for your target during the day, preventing them from being accused of treason, targeted by day abilities, or being whispered to.
Day ability 1: Clear Mind(Uses: Unlimited)- Cause target player to become immune to conversion. Players will remain targeted by this until you change targets
Day ability 2: Lantern(Uses: Unlimited)- Prevent target player from receiving any negative effects. Players will remain targeted by this until you change targets

Is it good other than that? And I gave it Decree so unseen could have a counter to lynches
