The Throne... Of Lies... Returns. [Roleplay Thread]

The locals are in turmoil, in fear of the lessening safety evidenced by the increase in guards.

ā€œResume me what happened in Adiart since 255, its populace, who holds dominion over it and which situation they find themselves right nowā€

Adiartā€™s kingship has changed hands several times in that span.

In 270, Marlvith was slain by a Black Rose Assassin, causing the Black Rose to become a sworn enemy of the Blue Dragon for generations. The former radical political party now lives in the shadows, rebranded as the Unseen. This was done mostly due to Marlvithā€™s policies, of which were against the agenda of the Black Rose. They wished for tighter defenses, while Marlvith opened up the land, communicating with several nations.

Kingship then passed to Lord Ashevane, one of Marlvithā€™s closest generals. She ruled Adiart with a decidedly ā€˜coolā€™ manner. In her life, she negotiated a truce with the Golden Dragon. She passed away in 330, passing the torch to Jazz

Jazz had a spectacular reign, called the Gilded Age of Moddom. Alas, they never had an heir, which sent the people into a frenzy in 390 when they passed away. They had been poisoned by an Unseen Servant.

The Time of Troubles left people to vie over kingship. It was painful for the people, but in 420 the true Prince Dama revealed themselves to the public. They were hidden away by Archbishop Wilhelm in fear that the Cult which had their resurgence would have corrupted them. Their suspicions were sadly accurate, for in 421 the prince committed suicide by way of ritual dagger.

This all changed when Chez took over the throne. A foreigner who was named the heir in the frenzy, Chez reigned with honor and valor. He was named Lionheart for his contributions in defeating the Navy who had seeked to expand their influences by way of privateering, where they forced Adiart sailors into service under the crowns heel.

Chez lived a long and prosperous life, given the title dragonblood for his reign. Given the turmoil, most wish for a king like him. He had a son, Leonard. He died eventually, much to the sadness of the people.

The current monarch of Adiart, Leonard is a man who is distrusted by his peers and disliked by his people. His dismissal of consequences is what has lead him to his current state starting at the young age of 13 he was beguiled by an older woman to sleep with her. It was only through other members of the Blue Dragon the event was uncovered, and it caused public outcry and distrust between the royal family and others. This pattern of unquestioning but increasing hate by others continued into his latter teenage years, when he was crowned king.

The Province of Alnen was taken over by the Green Kraken. In public the reasoning is that the lord Alnen committed treason, conspiring with the Navy in order to lead a force to take over Adiart.

In reality, Alnen did none of this. He was framed.

They find themselves now in a situation wherein they are choosing to elect a new king to power. Vilhelm, Iskandar, and Lars are discussing who shall be the new king as we speak.

ā€œWaitā€¦ so our home is justā€¦ a bunch of lies? ā€¦ A land that was wrongfully taken?! And if Adiart is in the middle of searching for a new King, then why is the Captain still continuing with his plan to dethrone the current King?ā€
Marianā€™s voice is full of sorrow feeling as if the people that sheā€™s been with has lied to her.

Yes. It is a throneā€¦of lies.

The Captain is planning to dethrone Adiart because they believe that Leonard is corrupt. The leader of the Unseen convinced them of this.

He imprinted the words on his own mind, analyzing them as the girl spoke ahead.
ā€œWe had a 30-year gap of anarchy between 390, when Jazz died and 420, when Dama assumed?ā€

ā€œThe Unseenā€¦ the Black Roseā€¦ Goddammit! He was wearing that creepy Black Rose on his person! Why didnā€™t I figure that out sooner?! We need to warn everyone before itā€™s too late! Maybe if we ever meet the Cap again, we can all tell him heā€™s been manipulated!ā€

Xed has already left the port.

ā€œWhat is with the Unseen?ā€

ā€œSoā€¦ he forgot about me? ā€¦. And I thought he has a heart of goldā€¦ After we learn how to resurrect the dead, we need to warn Adiart about the attack! I donā€™t remember the pirates I met earlier showing me the full plan, but at least we can tell them to prepare!ā€

He purposely left you.

ā€œIf you happen to find it, please then conduit me to the grave of Marlvith so he can be killed again. As many times the spell could afford.ā€

ā€œā€¦ Whyā€¦ā€¦ Why?.. WHY?!ā€
Marian grips the book tighter as anger and depression overtake her.

The mage takes it back before it is somehow damaged.

I cannot do that.

ā€œWhy did that fucking bastard leave me behind?!ā€
Her voice has risen at an almost uncomfortable level.

He left you behind because he believed you were being insubordinate.

ā€œInsubord- Iā€™ve done everything I could to stay on that damn ship! Iā€™ve swabbed the deck for plenty of hours, Iā€™ve saved countless lives from death and disability, and I even almost lost my left arm from a fucking shark! How dare he think of me in such a way!ā€

He believed that giving trust to a girl that had nothing much to contribute was not a safe idea. That it may have been for the best that you were not found.
