So yes, I do believe that angleshooting and even the known possible types of ambiguous cases can be better defined.

Never fully, because there’s always the possibility of a new type of ambiguous case appearing.
But certainly, much better defined than they are currently.

Well, it led to me only playing under hosts I trust to actually to enforce the rules just, because they are so ambiguous :confused:

There is a very large bank of gray area angleshooting interactions which could be referenced and clarified by hosts here for the public, but hasn’t yet.

I fully agree, we need to work harder to cut off any possible access to favoritism as much as we can.
better defining angleshooting is obviously the way to go.
all actions which you may have ever felt were at least somewhat related to favoritism
were all based in ambiguous-area angleshooting liberties allotted to every host
these can be better defined, such as to make it harder for hosts to make new decisions at their own discretion.

Currently, this site has angleshooting around half defined.
With the proper work, it is theoretically possible to get that up to around 95%, defining the general case as well as all past distinct types of ambiguous cases that have been encountered and dealt with in the past, whether disciplined or not.

What’s angleshooting? Is that lying about how the game works?

it’s complicated, but no
in the most primitive sense, it’s doing something that was outside of the host’s intention for the boundaries of the game to be.
It is by far the trickiest rule to steer clear of at all times, because it can be so ambiguous, at times.

so ToL is immune to angle-shooting but FoL is not?

There is cheating in ToL, which is mostly metagaming and much more easily definable.

Cheating in ToL is mostly “giving others information about the game outside of the game, which they wouldn’t have known otherwise”

Of course, discussing the game outside of the game would also count as cheating in FoL.
But no one does it as it’s so obviously illegal.
Angleshooting is different.

This is actually a quite interesting rule, since it is fine in ToL to speak outside of it about “public knowledge” information, while it is way more strict in FoL/FM. :eyes:
So this is something rather counterintuitive for people coming from ToL.

The problem is that we’re not arguing for the specific changes we made in FoL; vast changes to stuff like Noble and the removal of Trials neccecarily can’t happen to ToL.

What I’m proposing and will probably get around to designing at some point is a way to reduce feedback while keeping the amount of mechanical deduction roughly the same. Essentially:

  • Occupation/Redirection feedback is heavily cut down upon.
  • Healing feedback is much less problematic, so it could very easily stay.
  • Current Prince is nerfed into being an actually counterable class and their power and influence is spread more evenly.
  • The action resoloution system is altered to make Occ/Redirection immunity no longer neccecary for occupiers/redirectors.

“Ici you’ve literally just said you won’t to remove stuff” - Firstly, the last two are things being added, not removed. Occ/Redirect immunity being mostly removed will make playing as occupiers way more interesting simply because their actions will actually succeed in blocking other offensive actions. Secondly, part of the reason I’m doing all this is because it’s possible to bring back and enhance elements of desgin that had to be changed for confirmability.

  • More intresting royal blood/king elections!
  • More cool day abilities!
  • Generally more cool stuff!

“But Ici you made Chronomancer and Chrono sucks!” shuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuush, it’s not like I expect this entire rework to happen at once. I’m really just doing it because it would make my ego feel better if parts of it started to be added.

  1. Most occ/redirectimmune classes are BD, so removing their immunities won’t make a more interesting gameplay. Also it makes the occupation/redirection thing way more complex than it already is.
  2. I haven’t seen complains about the prince being OP like at all. Yes, it is a more powerful class than the others, but that’s intended, and I haven’t encountered players who see it as a problem.
  3. I see some problems in removing the feedback from occupiers/redirectors, since especially the Butler isn’t really considered as an interesting class, as far as I know. Being able to find occimmunes is a nice addition to his abilities. It is already very easy to fake claim Butler.
  4. The Chronomancer is actually considered as a more interesting class than the Physician, and it gives the game a nice variety in healers.

how the fuck do you fakeclaim something that gives distinctive feedback every single night without the same ability?

Not really, since if you don’t have to give people feedback if they’re occupied if two occupiers occupy each other you can just cancel out both actions.

Giving Butler something interesting to do due to lesser feedback is something that I’m planning to do. I’m not just going to remove tons of feedback and not give people more interesting things to do as a replacement.
