Weekly Monday Discussion #7 - Moderation

The easiest way to reel in players from our site is Chloe flavor

It’s Arete making flavor. I will never forget JoaT^2 flavor

“do x and get y punishment” can work for some things

doesn’t really work for others since the severity of x isn’t usually static

eg. “racism = 1 month”

well what if it’s really bad

what defines really bad?

etc etc

arete flavor is very good and we will force them to do it :^)

this is why i trust in the mods discretion in stuff like this
every situation has it’s own unique context and strict minimum guidelines dont really help

That is my problem. The mods have to decide that on the spot and bias is likely present

some stuff it’s more black and white like the ‘dont sub out of too many games’ thread i saw a bit ago, where if you subbed out twice in a short period you got a short blacklist

but most stuff should be left up to mod discretion as for how strict the punishments are

oh my fucking god
stop

Oooo that reminds me.
There was a thread about the word lynch not being used by hosts or mods. I think I’ve seen mods use that word since then.
The replacements rule only seems to apply sometimes. I remember someone replacing out of two games and then not getting blacklisted

Again we are human and we do make mistakes. We try our best not to say it.

if people replace out for like, reasons out of their control, then they obviously won’t be punished for it

eg. integrity reasons caused by the hosts :eyes:

i also have been trying to say execute or yeet more often but it’s an old habit and those are much harder to break

i personally use yeet most of the time but i might slip occasionally

i know i still use MyLo and LyLo though

Word “lynch” is very stupid story from time I was still a mod or rather was stepping down.

Problem was that at that time on MU someone made a drama that it’s negative sounding in black communities in USA.

Due to this a lot of communities tried to pressure others to change teeminology… pretty much everywhere.
I was against it during communities round table, as changing and enforcing new terminology cause in one country, one community connecting word to something bad (which also requiered different context, cause witches in salem trials were lynched despite not being black)… was a lot of overreaction.

But either way we were outvoted and… that’s it.
So we never really enforced it.

And other communities also resigned from it, cause in the end person who made whole drama around word “lynch” was an alt from local banned troll who tried to take revenge, lmao.

Stupid story is stupid, I know.
I still blame comunities round table for overreacting.

Communities that cooperate together.

Share ban data of problematic people.
Try to direct the direction whole FM thing develops.

And in general bunch of very inactive people. :^)

Isn’t the rule just “eh whatever” but sometimes reviewers (read: mods) yell at you if you have it in your OP during review

lol just delete the team awards stupid mods

I mean
They dont mean anything
But they aren’t bad
Actually gives you some satisfaction for playing well in a game

Hit reply instead of enter ._.

Maybe just change it to “mvp”?
Not understanding the issue here lol
